 Plagiarism

Plagiarism - promulgation (publication), in full or in part, of another person's work under the name of the person who is not the author of this work; (Law of Ukraine “On Copyright and Related Rights”/Paragraph V/Article 53). Plagiarism takes many forms, from literal copying to paraphrasing another's work.

A form of academic plagiarism is self-plagiarism, which is the presentation of your own previously published work as original without reference to a source of information of previously published texts; without indicating the fact that they were previously or simultaneously published.

The authors confirm that the submitted manuscript has not previously been published and is not currently being submitted to another scientific publication. If such work has already been published elsewhere, the editorial board will not accept and review such manuscripts.

 Plagiarism can take many forms:

  1. Exact Copy - Provides accurate copy without modification, without the permission and confirmation of the original source. Literal copying is obvious plagiarism and is easy to identify by comparing written works.
  2. Substantial copying means copying a considerable or significant part of the work without the permission and confirmation of the original source. Reproduction, borrowing from an idea of a previously published study. When determining what constitutes "substantial copying", the amount and quality of the copied content are taken into account. Quality refers to the essence of the copied text in proportion to the work as a whole. Even if some of the work has been recreated, but the essence of the study remains unchanged and the main idea is plagiarism.
  3. Paraphrasing. Copying can occur without reproducing the exact words used in the original work, without literal or significant copying. This type of copying is known as a paraphrase, and it may be the most difficult to detect with a type of plagiarism. This may be a translation of a work from another language.

Actions that characterize the process of plagiarism:

  1. Copy words or ideas from another work without referencing it.
  2. Assigning someone else's work and presenting it as your own work.
  3. No reference to the source.
  4. Providing incorrect source information.
  5. Translation from another language.
  6. Borrowing Ideas
  7. Copy text and ideas, citing the source when the borrowed text is larger than your own.
